A 17-year-old girl has been arrested by the South African Police Service (SAPS) because she stabbed a man who allegedly tried to rape her to death in Maake, outside Tzaneen.
According to reports, she killed the 21-year-old at Sofaya Village in the Sekororo area of the Maake Policing precinct.
She said she was heading to a local tavern when she met the man who jumped on her, armed with a knife. She refused to let him have his way, fought back, overpowered and disarmed him. She then stabbed him to death with his knife.
The lifeless body of the man was found with multiple stab wounds by a SAP official along the road during routine patrols.
She also handed herself over to the Police after killing the alleged rapist and she’s expected to appear before the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court in the next 24 hours while investigations continue.
