Police in Rivers State have averted what would have been a bloody clash between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Igwuruta community along the Port Harcourt International Airport Road.
It was gathered that some suspected thugs, who got information that Governor Chibuike Amaechi was to visit seven communities in Ikwerre Local Government Area, barricaded the Igwuruta axis of the expressway to unleash mayhem on his supporters and possibly, abort the tour.
Another group of the hoodlums was also said to have hauled missiles, including sachet water, at Amaechi’s supporters.
