The House of Representat ives Committee on Power on Monday said the ongoing privatisation of electricity generation and distribution companies by the presidency is illegal and that it is heading for collapse.
One of the committee members, Hon. Ibrahim Tukur El-sudi made the statement yesterday. “We said it at a committee meeting that the whole privatisation exercise of the power sector is doomed to fail, because of several factors.
“The hasty way this privatisation is going will lead this country into crisis. Some of the plants are moribund. Some were made in 1950s, some were made in 1960s.
