President of America, Barack Obama's credit card was declined last month in a New York City restaurant, he said.
“It turned out I guess I don’t use it enough,” Obama said. “They thought there was some fraud going on.”
First Lady Michell Obama had a credit card with her, however, and she paid for the meal, which Barack Obama described as "fortunate."
He said this at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau while announcing new protective measures to be deployed for credit cards used for delivery of federal benefits.
About 100 million Americans have been victims of identity theft in the past year. High profile security breaches at retailers like Home Depot and Target also leave a lot of people unsettled.
“I was trying to explain to the waitress, you know, I really think that I’ve been paying my bills,” the president said. “Even I’m affected by this.”
The President of the United state is paid $400,000 yearly, and is also given a non-taxable $50,000 expense account.
