President Muhammadu Buhari will be protected by officers of the Nigerian army and not Department of State Services as was the case for previous presidents.
VANGUARD reports that a memo by the ADC to the President, Lt. Col Abubakar Lawal stated that DSS personnel have been withdrawn from close body protection of the President and are being replaced by members of the Nigerian Army and the Police, adding that he was acting ''sequel to directives''.
The memo reportedly listed about seven areas which the military and the police are to take over from the DSS operatives “with immediate effect.” The listed areas which are no-go area for men of the DSS were Admin reception/passage; Service Chiefs gate; residence reception, office reception among others.
