President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) Programme has kicked off with Biometric Capture and Account Opening in Borno IDP Camps.

The Conditional Cash Transfer is part of the scheme under the 'Social Investment Programmes' that will pay 5,000 Naira monthly to one million Nigerians.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President, Mr. Laolu Akande had explained that for the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT), where one million extremely poor Nigeria would receive 5000 Naira monthly in 2016, the money would be paid directly to the beneficiaries through a payment system that was being worked out.

He said World Bank and the Bill Gates Foundation were also collaborating with the presidency to develop an efficient payment system.

“All together, about 60 billion Naira has been estimated to be paid out to extremely poor Nigerians”, he said in a statement before the passage of the 2016 budget.
