President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday in Abuja,decorated the Nigeria’s 4x400m team,with the Gold medals they were upgraded to at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
Nigeria originally came second at the games,but after the USA team who finished first were found guilty of doping and subsequently stripped of the gold,the International Olympic Committee(IOC) then awarded the race to Nigeria.
But the athletes are now getting the true test of victory,thirteen years after their feat in Australia.
The athletes were hosted to a ceremony by President Jonathan, each got a cash reward of N5m each for the six athletes,including the late Sunday Bada.
Their two coaches were not left,with as they each got N7m for their efforts as well.
