A report by Sahara Reporters newspaper says President Jonathan is planning to buy another aircraft. Apparently he has asked the National assembly for approval for the purchase, which is included in the 2015 budget presented by Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala.

The online journal notes that this will be the fourth of such purchase since Jonathan assumed office in 2010.

We read that the presidency will be trading in one of the planes currently in the presidential fleet for the new one, but the purchase of the new plane would cost about N400 million as deposit to the manufacturer.

Sahara Reporter has an analysis of the remainder of the budget, especially towards combating insurgency.

Guess the austerity measures doesn't extend to the presidency [USERGROUP=4]@Senior Curators[/USERGROUP]

It never does. Austerity is always for the poor
It's a pity. If govt cuts all unnecessary flamboyant expenses Nigeria won't really feel the oil slump. Some people are really above the law, and they don't give a damn for equity and justice

Everything smacks of obsession for jets. My understanding, they want to trade-in one of the presidential jets for a new one, but then it comes with a princely sum of N400million, at least so The Nation reported. Maintenance, operational cost etc..... Nigerians end up paying for this indirectly.

Our backs are the platform upon which our ruler are exalted. It used to be us, them, and the system of checks and balances (the forces that keep the rulers in check.)

The system of checks and balances has merged with 'them' and now it's just us and them.

Maybe Buhari will do something about it
