In a bid to rescue the People's Democratic Party (PDP) from crashing, President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria and Vice President Namadi Sambo on Sunday met with all PDP governors and the two remaining rebel governors;Sule Lamido and Babangida Aliyu..

Sambo met with the PDP governors at House seven while President Jonathan met with the two remaining rebel governors inside the First Lady’s Conference Room in the Villa.

Chief Anthony Anenih, Chairman PDP board of trustees addressed the press after President Jonathan's meeting with the remaining rebel governors. He said, "We have had our meeting presided over by the President with the Vice-President in attendance. We had useful meeting, the summary of it all is that we are happy that we are moving to restore confidence and trust. There will be a series of meetings between now and the weekend".

Governor Aliyu also reiterated his commitment to remain in the PDP.

It is however unclear what VP Sambo and the 11 PDP governors discussed in their own meeting, although anonymous sources claim they discussed the recent defection of 5 PDP governors and the worrisome state of the Nigerian economy.
