President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday commiserated with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, and the people of Kano over the death of the Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Tijani Hashim.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, read, "Jonathan believes the eminent Kano prince and highly revered community leader will always be remembered and honoured for his laudable contributions to peace, stability and progress in his community and country.

"The president prays that God Almighty will receive the late Galadima’s soul and grant him eternal rest. He also pray that the Almighty will bless the good people of Kano with a worthy successor to the late prince.

Also mourning the death of Galadiman Kano, Vice President Namadi Sambo on Monday described the late Prince as a great lost to the nation.

Sambo said the country had lost a rare gem who contributed greatly to the socio-economic development of the state and the country.

The Northern States Governors Forum, NSGF also expressed sadness over the death of Galadiman Kano.

NSGF Chairman and Governor of Niger, Dr Babangida Aliyu, said this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Israel Ebije, in Minna.

"Nigeria has lost another prominent son. The Galadiman Kano will be missed not only as a royalty but a bridge builder and a man of peace who had the interest of the country at heart.

"While we mourn him, I am indeed happy he was able to leave behind good legacy as a leader who helped in shaping the North positively. His contributions to national discuss will also remain indelible".
