The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has gotten a traditional title, Bayajidda Daura II. Vanguard reports that the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk invested the title on the president during a courtesy call to the Emir while on a private visit to his native town.

The title symbolizes Bajayyida, the legendary Hausa ruler who reportedly killed the famous snake inside Daura's Kusugu well and later established the seven Hausa states.

The traditional ruler extolled the virtues of the president and expressed optimism that Buhari's leadership will reposition the nation for the better. On the occasion, the emir presented a gold-plated sword and horse to symbolise his appointment as Bayajidda II.
