Sports Radamel Falcao dropped from Colombia's World Cup squad

Falcao who sustained an Anterior cruciate ligament injury in January, was hoping to lead the lines for his country at the World Cup after making spirited efforts to be fit for the competition

But coach Jose Pekerman didn't consider him fit enough to be included in his team when he announced his squad late on Monday evening.

The player admitted that he wasn't ready as he is still not fully fit to play as he makes full recovery.

"I'm still not ready and I didn't want to take a place away from one of my teammates who was 100% fit."

Colombia will now be counting on other strikers: Teofilo Gutierrez, Jackson Martinez, Adrian Ramos and Carlos Bacca to fill in the gap left by Falcao.

Meanwhile,Valencia midfielder Ever Banega was left out by Alejandro Sabella in the Argentina World Cup squad to Brazil, making him the big name casualty when the list was cut down.
