Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity has scathing words for the former president Olusegun Obasanjo over the letter he wrote to GEJ. He described the former president as a ‘headmaster’ who wants to treat Nigerians as “pupils.”

He said it this morning on Faaji 106.5 FNM, a live program in Yoruba language. He expressed his disapproval of the ex-president’s letter and accused him of interfering in GEJ’s governance and administration. He also said that Obasanjo’s meddling was not done out of a sense of patriotism but for his own self-serving purposes.

Reacting to a second letter – that attributed to Iyabo Obasanjo – Abati said it was a purely family issue and had nothing to do with the government. He furthermore dismissed all the media reports conjecturing that Iyabo’s letter was written by an aide to President Goodluck Jonathan. He supported this by saying that Iyabo was old enough to cry foul if the letter hadn’t been written by her, and the media houses who had already contacted Iyabo would attest to the fact that she hadn’t denied haven written the letter.

As we will recall, President Jonathan replied Obasanjo’s letter yesterday.
