The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says Governor Chibuike Amaechi is to blame for the crisis and bloodletting that overran the Rumueprikom Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Wednesday, August13, 2014, in the wake of his feigned ongoing political campaign across the State.
Regretting the seeming declaration of war on Rivers people, the PDP through a statement signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media to the State Chairman, Prince Felix Obuah, said it has been vindicated for raising alarm ab initio that Governor Amaechi only wanted to use his ''Meet The People Tour'' to ignite political crisis in State which explains why he ignored all wise counsel including the State Police Commissioner’s warning against continuing with the campaign.
"As though it does not matter whether the State is on fire or whether the people are being killed, the PDP notes, Amaechi’s wife, was in Tai Local Government Area despite the crisis, campaigning for the All Progressives Congress, APC".
Worse still, the party further notes, just a few hours after his Caretaker Committee Chairman for Port Harcourt City Council, Charles Paul Ejekwu collapsed and died under mysterious circumstance, Amaechi uncaringly jetted out of the State for project commissioning spree in far away Sokoto State.
“We condemn this unconcerned attitude and utter disregard for the people’s lives by Amaechi and enjoin all Rivers people to be wise and stop being lured into Governor Amaechi snares in the name of politics.
We however condole and sympathize with all the victims of Wednesday’s ugly incident in Rumueprikom and their families and while commending the police for their timely intervention, wish to appeal that all those used by Gov Amaechi and his cohorts to perpetrate this evil be fished out and prosecuted accordingly", the PDP added.
