Safinet Group, a Russian oil and gas firm has seek the permission of the Cross Rivers state government to build a 7,000-barrels-per-day-capacity refinery in Calabar with plans of boosting capacity to 65,000bpd in the near future.
Safiet Chairman, Mr. Arsen Mudonov, in a meeting with Governor Ben Ayade, said the firm chose Cross River because it is peaceful and that its citizens are friendly and hospitable.
According to him, the firm had been expanding its operations into different parts of the world, including Africa, in the last five years.
