Nigeria's Super Eagles will look at their 0-0 draw against South Africa and know that there wasn't much improvement from their last outing in the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers.
If there was any improvement,it has to be the singular fact that they didn't concede any goals against the Bafana Bafana, but in the all round display they were poor.
Coming into the game, the Super Eagles needed all three points to inject life into their qualification campaign to be in Morocco next year.
Both teams failed to score a goal in the game, cancelling out each other in a game the South Africans looked to have edged a bit in possession.
It wasn't exactly end to end stuff in the match but the two teams matched each other in all departments, giving as much as they got.
There wasn't much clear cut chances in the game, but South Africa looked a team who wanted it the most.
The only problem they had was not applying the right move and finish when on the front foot.
Tokelo Rantie was played through on goal but the South African substitute ended up hitting the side-netting.
With the introduction of Sone Aluko, the Super Eagles did have some directness in attack.
Nigeria could have stolen a win but Mathoho was on hand to make a goal-line clearance to prevent a goal in the 79th minute.
Although Rantie got another opportunity despite looking like he was in an offside position, but he failed to beat Austin Ejide and his teammates couldn't slot in the rebound.
The South Africans though are still searching for their first win over the Super Eagles in a competitive encounter, with Nigeria always having the upper hand.
South Africa will somehow be happy with the draw, but it doesn't look good for Nigeria who are in danger of missing out on qualification.
The Bafana Bafana are now second in the group with four points behind Congo who top with six points.
While the Super Eagles are now third with just one point after two matches in group A.
With four matches left in the qualifying series, time is really running out for the Super Eagles if they hope to qualify for the 2015 African Nations Cup.
