World San Francisco Train Passengers Ignore Train Gunman While Engrossed in Phones

A man investigators say randomly shot a university student on a crowded commuter train flashed a gun several times, but passengers were so absorbed in their phones and tablets they didn't notice him.

Security video footage showed the gunman pull out the .45 pistol, raise it and point it across the aisle before putting it back against his side, authorities told the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE.

The man drew it out several more times and once wiped his nose with the hand holding the gun, the newspaper reported.

Prosecutors said he was looking for a victim.

Nikhom Thephakaysone, 30, is accused of fatally shooting Justin Valdez, 20, in the back of the head as Valdez exited the train on September 23. Thephakaysone has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.
 
In order words, Justin Valdez would still be alive if only the commuters were not so engrossed in their phones and tablets.

This will raise the questions of "what if..?" and "if only...? " in the mind of Justin's family members.

Justin would still be alive today, if only...
 
the same trend is happening around the world. People pay more attention to their electronic devices than their environment. It might be a common occurrence in the future if care is not taken.
