It’s true. There is no laboratory in Nigeria equipped well enough to effectively diagnose the Ebola virus. Apparently, we just don’t have the required infrastructure to culture the virus and manipulate it. Let’s not forget that this same virus has been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people in several West African countries recently.
What does this mean? Daily Independent says “that means samples from any patient suspected to be carrying the disease may have to be taken to the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) laboratories in Atlanta, United States of America (USA), or to laboratories in Dakar, Senegal for confirmation.”
