Patrick, a male gorilla is leaving Dallas Zoo to have therapy after he bit one female gorilla and sneered at others.
Patrick has lived in the at Dallas Zoo in the US since he was five and is a renowned cranky bachelor.
He gets along fine with humans, but struggles to forge relationships with other gorillas, particularly females. Dallas Zoo staff have tried to coax out his social side, but their success has been as limited as Patrick's tact.
According to Radio Australia, Laurie Holloway, Dallas Zoo spokeswoman said, " It's not like we haven't tried, he's been here for 18 years".
The guy's just rude. Over the last 18 years, Patrick has bit, nipped and sneered at female gorillas while failing to engage meaningfully with other males. His one friend, Jabari, was shot to death by police after he escaped the zoo in 2004 and injured three people.
"He's beautiful and smart and everyone loves him," Ms Holloway said. "We're really sad to see him go but it's for the best for the zoo and for Patrick."
