The Nigerian Army has dismissed the latest threats by Abubakar Shekau in a new video as a figment of his imagination.
Shekau had threatened to continue fighting Nigeria and the whole world in the video released on Monday.
“Which Shekau did you see?" Defence spokesman, Brigadier General Rabe Abubakar queried, "remember anybody can replicate him.”
“We know they are dying elements of the group and they will all cease to exist soon. We are not ready for a media war which they like us to engage in.” he said, adding that Shekau's threats are "just a figment of his imagination.”
He urged Nigerians not to be deceived by a non-existent person called Shekau, and called on other defiant members of the group to surrender.
