Metro SSS Detains, Releases Oby Ezekwesili

The former World Bank Vice President and former Minister, Oby Ezekwesili who is also the main figure in the campaign for the release of the abducted Chibok girls has been detained by the SSS on her way out of the country. Her passport was also seized, according to her tweets.

She has now been released and has boarded the British Airways flight scheduled for 8am to London. See tweets below:

What I found utterly ridiculous about this was she said she was detained and the detention didn't last more than a few minutes and Omojuwa had already reported to CNN, Michelle Obama, Al Jazeera and others.

A bit harsh. I am sure she was detained but that is expected. When she was in government people were detained all the time.

If you are rich or well known enough in nigeria the law does not apply to you.

As for announcing on social media. Well China, Saudi etc are not democracies and pretty much stample on all rights. We need to wake up and understand that the outside world does not give a s**t. It is content and business. That is why the Arab spring, Libya, Iraq, Egypt (where journalists have been jailed) etc have all been forgotten.
