A suicide bomber drove his car into an army checkpoint in Egypt's restive Sinai Peninsula on Thursday, killing four soldiers.
News24 reported that, three other soldiers were wounded in the attack on the Al-Reesa checkpoint just south of North Sinai's main town of El-Arish.
Security officials reported that the bomber slowly approached the checkpoint, waited for soldiers and policemen to start searching the car before he blew himself and his vehicle up.
Armed groups have been attacking security forces in Sinai for years but the frequency of the attacks has dramatically grown since the overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi in a July coup.
