He said words uttered by many politicians and clerics fuel the killings.

A statement by JNI Secretary-General, Dr. Khalid Abubakar-Aliyu, stated that the Sultan called for responsible and responsive leadership in addressing the issues.

“The National Headquarters of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) painstakingly notes with concern the unfortunate sectarian violence which bedevilled Southern Kaduna for quite sometime now and it has monitored events relating to the unfortunate serial killings, as they unfolded,” it reads in part.

The Sultan, who expressed sadness over the continued massacre, appealed to all Nigerians to shun bitterness and stop all forms of hate speeches.

He also reaffirmed the efforts of the JNI leadership in striving towards achieving a sustainable peaceful co-existence in the country.

Sultan, head of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, further urged security agencies to always take proactive measures to forestall sectarian violence in troubled areas.
