Palpable tension has engulfed Delta state as the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is set to decide the fate of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa within 2 days. It would be recalled that after Okowa of the PDP was declared winner of 2015 governorship elections, O’tega Emerhor, candidate of the APC and Great Ovedje Ogboru, candidtate of the Labour party both went to court to challenge the victory.
In the petitions, Emerhor and Ogboru urged the tribunal to nullify the elections based on substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2010 (as amended).
