President Goodluck Jonathan at the public presentation of two books titled: “Great Rulers of Northern Nigeria’’ and ``Great Unforgettable Leaders of Northern Nigeria’’, authored by Mr Timothy Ugbaa on Tuesday in Abuja said that traditional rulers were important to the unity and development of the country.
He said that in spite of the differences, the North had contributed immensely to the growth of the country.
“I always look at the northern part of this country as my constituency. So I urge all the traditional rulers to continue to play their fatherly role,’’ Jonathan said.
The president described the event as an auspicious one to celebrate statesmanship.
He promised to get the books for himself and members of his cabinet.
The Guest Speaker, Gov. Gabriel Suswan of Benue, explained that the books highlighted the rich traditional history of the North.
