Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that the departure of the seven governors from the PDP's Special National Convention on the 31st of August, 2013 is nothing short of secession.
According to Tukur, in a statement given to the press by his media assistant, Oliver Okpala, Tukur, “it was only in a political dispensation that the governors can go free after conspiring and walking out on the President of the country in the party’s last national convention. The actions of the governors amounted to a political coup and secession which should be condemned by every right thinking Nigerian as an insult on the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
