World Tunisia Bans 'Cruel' Forced Anal Examination Of Suspected Homosexuals

The Tunisian minister of human rights has announced the ban of forced anal examination of suspected homosexuals. Homosexuality is illegal in Tunisia and carries a jail term of 3 years.

According to Human rights watch, the test, which stems from a discredited 19th century theories that “homosexuals can be identified by the tone of the anal sphincter or the shape of the anus” , usually involved doctors “forcibly inserting their fingers, and sometimes other objects” into the anus
