The National Drug Enforcement Agency ( #NDLEA ) on Friday won two convictions at the Federal High Court in #Lagos against two drug traffickers- Stanley Mordi and John Samuel- as each of them bagged 2 years in jail.

The prosecutor, Mr Kalu Oriji, said the convicts were arrested by officers of the NDLEA on March 21, 2013 at Idimu, Lagos.

He said that about 69 kg of the narcotic was recovered from them, while unlawfully trading the illicit drugs.

They had earlier been arraigned on April 29 and had pleaded guilty to the charge.

The judge, Justice Saliu Saidu, had adjourned the case for a review of facts and sentencing of the convicts.

At the resumed hearing, Saidu sentenced them to prison, despite their pleas for leniency as first time offenders.

The sentence will take effect from the date of their conviction.

The judge also ordered that the drug tendered as exhibits should be kept in the custody of NDLEA.
