The Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has withdrawn the appointment of the Director of finance of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN Mr. Tochukwu Bede Uchendu citing appointment irregularities.

In a letter dated 27th April 2015, signed by A A Tsafe director human resource management, Osita directed Mr Tochukwu Uchendu to vacate the office until the due process was concluded and formal letter of appointment issued to him.

This follows two aviation unions's petition - the Air Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria ATSSSAN and National Union of Air Transport Employees NUATE saying he was still serving as a director in a company owned by the minister, Consumer Investment Limited, and therefore might not be able to discharge his duties to the fullest capacity.

The unions also complained that FAAN director of Commercial was granting waivers worth N1bilion to two companies without approval from neither the ministry nor FAAN.
