James Entwistle, the U.S. Ambassador to #Nigeria, on Tuesday paid a visit to the Emir of #Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, in his palace in Kano

Mr. Entwistle congratulated the Emir on behalf of himself and the American people, saying he believed the new Emir is capable of uniting the people of Kano and Nigeria as a whole.

The Kano Emir according to Premium Times, thanked Mr. Entwistle and the U.S. government for the visit.

The two men then reportedly went into a closed-door meeting.

Who should be concerned about this meeting?
  1. Sanusi? There is nothing like a free lunch even in Freetown. What would you have to give up and if you do not give it up what happens next? Or is it a case of a close friend of the Saudis becoming a close friend of the US. (Nigeria can break up but Saudi money can fix the north or at least Kano, but Nigeria is a democracy - for now).
  2. Jonathan? - "Therefore I say that it is a narrow policy to suppose that this country or that is to be marked out as the eternal ally or the perpetual enemy of England. We have no eternal allies, and we have no perpetual enemies. Our interests are eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow." - Lord Palmerston
  3. Nigerians? One should never take sides in these matters. The US has pitched its tent against Jonathan (perception is 9/10 of the law). The Americans are very aware of the signal this sends out so close to the national election and in a country that is already pulling in all directions.
I dey look o but in Nigeria, the more you, look the less you see.
