About 1,200 members of the Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP who are known as loyalists of Nigeria's vice-president Namadi Sambo have decamped from the ruling party to the All Progressives Congress.
The defectors were led by Alhaji Yaro Makama, former Chairman of the PDP in Kaduna state and were received by the APC’s Interim Chairman in the state, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, at the party’s secretariat on Ali Akilu Road in the Kaduna metropolis.
The defectors cited injustice as one of the reasons they left the PDP. Baba-Ahmed said the defectors apologized for stealing the party's mandate in the previous elections and vowed to help the APC crush the PDP.
