Tiwa Savage and Olamide do not deserve a standing ovation for their new video. The music video which is one of the features in Tiwa Savage’s latest studio album – R.E.D was shot by one of the best hands in the Nigerian Music industry, Clarence Peters. However, the video comes off as bland and regular.
There’s nothing new or distinctly unique about Standing Ovation. If Tiwa and Olamide weren’t A-List stars in Nigeria, the video would easily pass off as ‘whack’ and the product of ‘another wanna be’.
Mavin Records first lady – Tiwa Savage is out of form. In several scenes in the video, the lady boss is seen struggling to get into character. She’s struggling with everything, from fitting into the street scenes to costume to dance moves –we’ve seen Tiwa pull off tougher moves.
For a much hyped video, featuring two of Nigeria’s biggest Music houses - Mavin Records and YBNL – one would have expected something classier. Maybe the Video was released in a hurry to prove to Nigerians that all is well between Olamide and Don Jazzy.
While we commend them for shooting the video close to home- Lagos, they most certainly do not deserve the applause those kids rolled out at the end of the video.
