Market women in Bomadi-Overside, Delta state trade in danger zone. The ultramodern motor park and stalls, that is yet to be inaugurated have not been put into use since its completion in February 2016. The market women have called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to expedite action and inaugurate the ultramodern motor park and market stall project in the community.
The market women said the call became necessary after a similar call on the immediate past management of the commission was not heeded.
The situation, they said, had forced them to continue their trading activities on the Bomadi Bridge and roadsides.
The chairlady, who spoke on behalf of the market women told journalists that: “We are trading on danger zone as you can see.
“We are forced to continue our business on top of this bridge even after the project was completed over 11 months ago.
“We were ejected from the market when they started the project in 2015.
“NDDC should not toy with our lives, they should come and open this place for us without further delay.
“We heard that a new management came on board late last year. It is really not safe for us to continue trading on this bridge and we the market women are calling on them to speed up the inauguration of the market.”
