33-year old Purvi Patel was sentenced to 20 years in prison by the state of Indiana for feticide and neglect of a dependent.
Feticide is any act that causes the death of a fetus.
She received a total of 30 years on the felony neglect charge, 10 of which were suspended. She'll be serving a six-year sentence for feticide concurrently.
Patel is going to be the USA's first woman to be charged, convicted and sentenced on a feticide charge.
This has sparked outrage for reproductive rights activists.
