Iranian national team assistant coach Oceano Cruz has said that they are battle ready to stop the Super Eagles when both countries clash in their opening game of the World Cup tournament on June 16 in Brazil.

Iran, who won just one out of their five warm up games against Trinidad and Tobago in their final match this past weekend are in the same group with the Super Eagles, Bosnia Herzegovina and Argentina in Group F.

Cruz, assistant to Carlos Quieroz, says they are excited to head into the World Cup on the back of a win.

“It was a game that has fulfilled our expectations,” he told Globoesporte. “We are preparing for the first match against Nigeria. Our only concern is Nigeria at the moment.

“Victory is always important to create a culture of winning. This only happens with results like this,” said the former Portuguese player.
