Rapper Andre Johnson, affiliated with Wu-Tang Clan is currently in hospital after cutting off his penis and jumping from a building in Los Angeles.
Media reports say the police were called to an apartment in North Hollywood on Wednesday at about 01:00 local time.
It is thought that the 40-year old rapper, known as Christ Bearer, attempted to commit suicide.
TMZ reports that he jumped from a second-floor balcony. The website adds that the rapper would be unable to have his penis reattached.
The rapper, with real name Andre Johnson, was found by police officers from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) on a pavement. He is now receiving medical attention at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
