The Zamfara State House of Assembly on Friday dissolved the executive and legislature of Gunmi Local Government Area.
According to NAN, the house took the decision due to the expiration of the term of office of the council. Alhaji Sulaiman Gyalenge, Chairman of Gunmi LGA was ordered to vacate his seat and hand over the affairs of the Council to the Secretary on or before Monday, September 30.
Alhaji Salisu Tsafe, majority leader, Zamfara State House of Assembly, aid that there was a need for the Assembly to dissolve the council and direct the state government to appoint a sole administrator to run the affairs of the council, pending the time a new election would be held.
The Speaker of the House, Alhaji Sanusi Rikiji called on the Zamfara State governor to appoint a sole administrator to the council while the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) planned towards an election.
