Shell partners with Oyo State to construct gas pipelines, bolstering industrial development. The agreement entails a 20-year plan for Shell Nigeria Gas to build and operate a distribution network spanning Oyo State, enhancing energy supply and fostering regional socio-economic progress.

Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG) and the Oyo State Government have forged an agreement to develop a robust gas supply and distribution network. The initiative aims to meet the energy demands of industrial and commercial users across the state, starting with a 15-kilometer pipeline route and potential expansion to deliver up to 60 million standard cubic feet of gas daily.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde hailed the partnership as a pivotal step towards development, aligning with the state’s strategic objectives of promoting innovation and industrialization. Expressing readiness for further collaborations, Makinde emphasized the project's potential to enhance socio-economic progress and generate job opportunities in Oyo State.

Ralph Gbobo, Managing Director of SNG, underscored the agreement's significance in boosting economic activities by supplying industries with natural gas. He emphasized the project's role in supporting the Oyo State Government's industrialization agenda, driving revenue generation, and creating employment opportunities. The initiative aligns with Nigeria's ambition to leverage natural gas availability for progress under the Decade of Gas initiative.

Osagie Okunbor, Managing Director of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd., highlighted the value of partnership in powering progress across Nigeria. He emphasized Shell's commitment to delivering competitive and reliable energy solutions for power generation and industrial use, leveraging its extensive presence and trading reach in the country.

Established in 1998, SNG has evolved into a dependable gas supplier, serving over 150 clients across multiple states. The partnership underscores SNG's dedication to expanding energy infrastructure and supporting Nigeria's journey towards cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions.
