President Bola Tinubu requests Senate approval for reimbursing over N15 billion to Kebbi State and N9 billion to Nasarawa State for airport construction. The federal government assumed control of the airports, prompting the reimbursement. Tinubu cites constitutional provisions and FEC approval, seeking Senate concurrence for promissory note issuance.

President Bola Tinubu has sought Senate approval for the reimbursement of over N15 billion to Kebbi State and N9 billion to Nasarawa State for airport construction projects.

The request, read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, highlights the federal government's takeover of the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi and the Lafia Cargo Airport in Nasarawa.

Tinubu emphasized that aviation falls under the exclusive legislative list, granting the federal government sole authority over airports. The reimbursement is based on the Federal Executive Council's approval through the issuance of promissory notes.

The Senate is now called upon to consider and grant concurrent approval for this reimbursement.
