The Federal Government's approval of a significant pay rise for civil servants ahead of May Day has sparked mixed reactions from various stakeholders. The increment, ranging from 25% to 35%, across different consolidated salary structures, was announced by the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC).
However, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) swiftly rejected the proposal, labeling it "a waste of time" and emphasizing the need for a living wage instead. Amidst calls for better wages, workers across different states expressed disappointment with the government's handling of the minimum wage issue.
