Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration, urging a review of the Federal Government's monetary and fiscal policies. Speaking at the Nigeria Development Update event in Abuja on Thursday, Mohammed argued that current reforms are worsening hardships for Nigerians. He highlighted the increasing frustration and hunger among citizens, emphasizing that even political leaders face potential backlash from desperate communities.
The governor stressed the need for effective economic strategies to address these challenges, pointing out that the existing funds are inadequate to alleviate widespread poverty. He urged the Federal Government to reconsider macroeconomic policies that are fueling inflation and diminishing purchasing power, adding that the reforms have failed to provide tangible benefits to the public.
Mohammed appealed to the Central Bank Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, for an urgent reassessment of these policies, cautioning against rigid approaches and advocating for solutions that would genuinely ease the burden on Nigerians.
