On October 10, 2023, the life of Dr. Fumilola Adefolalu, a lecturer at the Federal University of Technology Minna, was tragically cut short when she was found brutally attacked in her Minna residence. A subsequent investigation by the Niger State Police Command has led to the arrest of the prime suspect, her 14-year-old former house-help, Joy Afekafe. Afekafe confessed to her involvement in the crime and revealed that she had conspired with her classmates, Walex and Smart, who are currently on the run.

According to the police statement, Afekafe had been laid off from her position as the deceased's housemaid due to her misdeeds. Following her dismissal, she sought revenge and conspired with Walex and Smart to attack Dr. Adefolalu at her home. They carried out the gruesome act on October 28, 2023, beating the lecturer and inflicting multiple stab wounds on her.

The suspects also made off with the victim's belongings, including her phone and laptop, and tampered with her vehicle before fleeing the scene. The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend the two remaining suspects, while Afekafe faces further investigation and prosecution.
