Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), has criticized his political rival, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, stating that Ganduje is a liability to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and cannot secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections. This comes in response to comments made by Ganduje, the chairman of the ruling party, who called Kwankwaso a serial loser.
In a statement by the NNPP's National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Yakubu Shendam, it was emphasized that Ganduje's alleged involvement in scandals has damaged his reputation and credibility, making him unfit to lead APC and ensure victory for Tinubu in the upcoming elections.
The statement declared, "Take it or leave it, Ganduje is a liability to Tinubu, a liability to his party APC, and a liability to the country, and I can bet that with Ganduje as the National Chairman, President Bola Tinubu is going to lose the 2027 presidential election because Nigerians will not vote for him."
Kwankwaso's statement also highlighted their past political associations and the perceived betrayal by Ganduje, noting that Ganduje has never won an election except the one Kwankwaso allegedly delivered to him in 2015.
Kwankwaso voiced concerns about attempts by the Ganduje-led APC to manipulate the political landscape in Kano State and warned that any such efforts would be met with resistance by the people of Kano and judges with integrity.
