Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, announced that the Federal Government has successfully distributed N25,000 each to 3.5 million Nigerians through the conditional cash transfer scheme. The initiative, launched two months ago by President Bola Tinubu's administration, aims to support 15 million vulnerable households affected by the fuel subsidy removal.
Edu revealed the ongoing efforts, stating, "We have so far paid 3.5 million Nigerians N25,000 each. Of course, we are out on the field and covering another 4.5 million in the next one week." The minister emphasized the meticulous verification process, expanding the list to include individuals like retirees.
In addition to the cash transfer scheme, Edu highlighted the government's commitment to addressing arrears owed to N-Power beneficiaries. The ongoing payments aim to settle salary arrears owed by the previous administration, demonstrating a dedication to reducing unemployment and fostering job creation across the nation
