The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has launched an ambitious initiative to fortify Nigeria's digital landscape. According to TheCable, the federal government's program aims to train three million technical talents by 2025.
The "3 Million Technical Talents" initiative aims to make Nigeria a net exporter of tech talent, positioning the country as a crucial player in the global digital arena. The program is also expected to catalyze the growth of the digital economy and create employment opportunities for many trainers.
The program's first phase will train 30,000 tech enthusiasts across Nigeria in the next three months. It's inclusive, extending its reach to individuals over 45. The curriculum covers various areas, including software development, UI/UX design, data science, animation, AI/machine learning, and cybersecurity. It uses a hybrid training model that combines online and offline sessions. The government has promised to cover the training costs of the first phase.
This initiative is vital for Nigerians, as it presents a golden opportunity for them to lead the digital transformation wave. It also highlights Nigeria's ambition to be a dominant force in the digital economy globally, potentially shaping tech innovations and trends in the years to come.
