Akomolafe Henrich Bankole's N150 million poultry farm in Abuja was destroyed by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) without notice, resulting in the death of over 5,000 birds and the loss of jobs for over 50 workers. Bankole calls for accountability and questions future investments in Nigeria.
Akomolafe Henrich Bankole is reeling from the devastating loss of his N150 million investment in a poultry farm located in Lokogoma, Abuja. The destruction, carried out by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) without warning, resulted in the death of over 5,000 birds, leaving Bankole heartbroken and angry.
In a series of tweets, Bankole expressed his frustration, emphasizing that he had followed all legal processes and obtained necessary documentation, including a Certificate of Occupancy (C of O). He condemned the actions of the FCDA, questioning why he could not farm on his private property. The impact of this incident extends beyond Bankole; more than 50 workers have lost their jobs, putting additional strain on families during difficult economic times.
Bankole lamented the uncertainty of future investments in Nigeria, fearing that such arbitrary actions could lead to widespread despair. He called on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, to take notice of the damage being done under his administration, urging accountability from those in power.
He also highlighted the lack of communication from the authorities, stating he never received any notification to vacate the land. The incident has ignited public outrage, with many calling for a reconsideration of how such situations are handled, advocating for proper notice and opportunities for relocation before destruction occurs.
