A Boeing 737 aircraft (registration number: 5N-BYQ) operated by Aero Contractors faced a serious situation upon landing at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja. Departing from Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, the aircraft's nose wheel became stuck in the grass verge, leading to the closure of the runway at 10:47 am on Sunday.

The National Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) issued a statement confirming the incident, emphasizing that there were no injuries or fatalities among the occupants. Dr. James Odaudu, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at NSIB, urged the public to share pictures, videos, or recordings related to the incident to aid in a comprehensive investigation.

The NSIB assured that privacy would be respected, emphasizing that conclusions about the incident's cause should wait for the formal report. As the runway closure affected airport operations, attention turns to the investigation's findings and potential safety recommendations.
