The Airtel Africa Foundation, in partnership with Airtel Nigeria, is targeting 200 underserved young women in Ikorodu, Lagos State, for industry-standard technical training at no cost through the "DigiLeap Tech Drive" programme. The initiative, a collaboration with ISHK Tolaram Foundation and Co-Creation Hub, is designed to bridge the gender gap in the technology sector. Airtel Africa Foundation Chairman Segun Ogunsanya said the project is a "professional pipeline" to transition women directly into internships and sustainable careers. Airtel Nigeria CEO Dinesh Balsingh described empowering women with digital skills as a catalyst for national economic growth.

Key Points:
  • 200 young women gain free access to tech skills and job placement pathways.
  • The programme targets underserved communities, promoting digital inclusion.
  • Female representation in Nigeria's tech workforce may increase through direct internships.
  • The initiative addresses regional unemployment while building economic opportunities.
  • Applications are open until May 8, 2026, for women aged 18-35 in Ikorodu.

Watch whether the pilot programme expands to other underserved communities and how many graduates secure sustainable tech careers.
