Senate President Godswill Akpabio affirmed during Thursday's plenary that the Senate would approve funds for a new presidential jet if formally requested by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, Akpabio clarified that no such request had been received yet.
The Senate, reconvening early from recess, discussed a bill to extend the 2023 supplementary appropriation act. Akpabio emphasized the Senate's responsibility to consider issues that enhance national governance, citing safety concerns regarding aircraft following recent incidents globally.
He assured that any request for a presidential jet would be scrutinized based on necessity and national interest, dismissing current speculation as anticipatory.
