In a significant move to bolster its workforce with fresh talent, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced the commencement of its Graduate Trainee Programme. This initiative aims to attract and develop highly skilled graduates who can contribute to the corporation's ongoing efforts to drive innovation and efficiency within the oil and gas sector.
The NNPC's Graduate Trainee Programme is designed to provide young professionals with comprehensive training and exposure to various aspects of the petroleum industry. Successful candidates will undergo a rigorous selection process and will be offered opportunities to work in different departments, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals.
The disciplines required for the programme are diverse, covering geosciences, petroleum engineering, well engineering, general engineering, operations engineering, commercial, finance, accounts, audit, taxation and insurance, information technology, legal, and security. Applicants must possess a Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Upper Credit and a completed Master’s Degree.
In a statement released on Monday, NNPC's Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari, emphasized the corporation's commitment to nurturing young talent and equipping them with the necessary skills to excel in the industry. "This programme is part of our strategic initiative to build a pipeline of future leaders who will drive NNPC's mission to become a world-class oil and gas company," Kyari said.
The application process for the Graduate Trainee Programme is open to recent graduates from accredited universities who have completed their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme. Candidates are expected to possess a strong academic background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the oil and gas sector.
As part of the selection criteria, applicants will undergo a series of assessments, including aptitude tests, group discussions, and interviews. The NNPC has also assured that the selection process will be transparent and merit-based, ensuring that the most qualified candidates are chosen.
